As we mentioned before, Aikido is a martial art of self defense. It is not intended to be an offensive martial art, but rather to disarm the attacker and gain control of the situation. Today we are going to look at the Aikido technique called Munetsuki Kotegaeshi. The meaning of Munetsuki Kotegaeshi is “mid-level strike” so it is a defense technique for mid-level strikes, in other words against somebody hitting you in the stomach.
This Aikido technique once again uses the momentum of the attacker against the attacker. As you progress through the belts, you will learn different Aikido techniques. The Aikido technique Munetsuki Kotegaeshi is taught for the yellow belt. You will need to learn it well in order to pass the test.
